Decorating My MBR - Part I - The Beginning

Hi ya'll!  I'm so excited to meet you here.  I've been an incurable design addict for as long as I can remember - even reaching back into my childhood.  My mother instilled the love of textiles and the thrill of creating something with my own hands by teaching me to sew.  While she was a creator of beautiful clothing, I blossomed into a love of fabricating home decor items.  Thus my custom drapery and soft home furnishings business was born.   I decided to start this blog as way to share my love for all things home decor related.  It is my hope that I'll inspire some of you as much as you've all inspired me!

Well - I broke the expert's rules (what? moi? break a rule? ha!) by not making decorating my master bedroom a priority.  Mr. Worthing and I have lived here for over five years and I'm just now getting around to decorating that room!
It is a rather large room with a sitting area (which for me, is a wasted space, but the positive side is that it gives me more space to decorate!).  There is a tray ceiling above the area where the bed is located.  The room is not very bright because there are only three single windows in the entire bedroom.  As you can see in these photos, it is a blah, disheveled space.

My personal taste is an updated mix of traditional and transitional style. To keep cost to a minimum, I'll be using furniture that I already own.  My furniture is pretty traditional in style, so the updated look will come from the fabrics, lighting, accessories, paint and other decorative elements that I choose.  Here's a little sneak peek at some of the accessories and fabrics that will be going into the room.

In Part II, I'll show you an easy way to keep the cost of drapery hardware down (shhhh!  it's a big secret!) and the mounted window treatments.

Stay tuned! Pin It

  7. Hi, Suzy and welcome to blogging. I tried the code and it works. I think you are not copying the whole code. The little bar on the right of it make sure you pull it down first and then copy all the code from bottom to top. It should work. Can't wait to see your bedroom makeover. Hope you will share it at my party when you do.

Kim - Thank you! You were right - I wasn't capturing all of the code.
