Good morning everyone!
Well, it was back to beach for us this past weekend to continue working on the bookcase project.
I wasn't going to blog about this because I thought you might find it boring. But I changed my mind after receiving requests for an update from people who knew that we had gone to the beach.
We spent the weekend adding the top and trim to the bookcase. So there was a lot of this going on...
...and this...
...and this.
And here's how it looked when we left.
Don't worry about all those cords. We have a plan for those!
I gotta tell ya - I was exhausted! All that supervising, advice giving, board holding, decision making, just wore me out!
Ha! I'm totally kidding. Pookie deserves all the credit. He's working so hard and is doing a fantastic job. I'm really proud of him!
The plan for the next trip is to fill in gaps/nail holes, prime and hopefully start the painting. Yea!

Suzy...I am glad you posted...want to see every step...and maybe I can see it in person one day!!...great progress!
ReplyDeleteHe is doing such a great job. Going to look grand painted.
ReplyDeleteThe bookcases are looking wonderful. Can't wait to see more. Great job, Suzy!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for the shelves, paint and hardware!!!!! I'm almost as excited as you to see it finished! In the meantime, I'm at Destin and they decided Sunday to start tearing our deck off the next day! It's already gone!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a project that's really going to look wonderful. I wish ONE of the two of us had a little know-how in the area of building. I laughed at your contribution. Even with no know-how, that's generally mine too.
ReplyDeleteLooks great so far! I'm glad you have a plan for the cords -- cords are the bane of my existence!
ReplyDeleteThe boiokcases are turning out great. I can't wait to see them finished!
ReplyDeleteSuzy, Thanks for posting. I love what you are doing with the bookcases. Can borrow sweet Pookie when you are through. Oh well, Pookie will be relaxing on the beach when he finishes. May after the season I can borrow him.

I swear girl, if I can ever get a weekend where I have one ounce of extra energy I *will* come out to visit you when you are down here. I am so sorry. It just seems weekends are either all work (as they were this past weekend) or all grandsons. :) Really would love to see your beachy getaway. Did I tell you we had an offer in on a unit in Building 2. Short sale, great price. But hubby got cold feet about the whole beach erosion thing. He wants a unit in a building a little further down. :-/ Love the bookcases.
ReplyDeleteThey're looking great! Going to make a big difference!
ReplyDeleteThey are looking wonderful, Suzy! Isn't it wonderful to have a hubby who has those "building genes" and can do all these wonderful things we manage to dream up? I know I am totally blessed with one & it looks like you are as well. Can't wait to see the finished piece!

ReplyDeleteIt's starting to shape up. I saw your previous posts about your beach condo renovation and it's amazing. I can't believe it's the same place. Gorgeous!
