Hi everyone! Well...I think I've finally finished updating the dining room.
The last sort of big thing to be done was to add art. As you can see, I've taken care of that!
I looked and looked at so many different things and never could find just the right one. If you'll remember, I even asked for all of your opinions when Molly at The Waffler created a fun survey for you to take. (Thank you to everyone who participated, by the way!)
It finally occurred to me that I could put together a wall gallery using mostly items that I already have - duh! So I took the painting from the family room and two pictures from the kitchen (I repainted the frames) and combined them with the diy convex mirrors that I showed you how to make on Tuesday.
For less than $50, I was able to put together this gallery.
I like the mix of different shades of gold. I think it helps to keep the whole arrangement from being too same, same and boring. And I also like the way that the print in the small square pictures complements the drapery fabric.
The last detail to be taken care of was actually something that several of you suggested (you smart peeps!). That was to paint the off-white candle thingys on the chandelier to match the rest of the fixture.
Chandy before
Chandy after
Chandy after the after
Funny how such a small detail can make such a big difference! Thanks to all of you who suggested that.
I decided to take new pictures of the entire room, now that I've finished with the updates.
Lastly, I included this one just because I like it! ☺

Your dining room is gorgeous! I love all the red you used.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty - you can be proud of this room! I am curious as to what kind of light bulbs you put in the chandelier. I love the round bulbs - are they something new on the market??
ReplyDeleteVery, very pretty!
ReplyDeleteReally turned out great....I just love the mirrors...you are the clever one!!
ReplyDeleteLooks great I love the way it turned out. The mirrors are great as I told you the other day. Clever.

What a beautiful, colorful, energizing room! I love the mirrors and the chandy transformation. The globe bulbs gave it a totally different look that I'm really liking! Lots of good things to take in here...
ReplyDeleteThe gallery wall looks great! I think the wall needed a large installation like the one you ended up with -- and a great price as well :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT! The wall grouping finished it off perfectly!
ReplyDeleteIf I remember correctly, the survey pictures were of birds. This looks MUCH better!! Love the gold and red together. It looks fresh and modern, good choices of pieces. Gold and red can be hard to do because it can look heavy or matronly, but yours looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!! And to think you already had everything. I love the painting from the den. It looks great in here. I love, love your dining room. It is huge, I like that.
ReplyDeleteI am behind on reading. I am going to check on those mirrors, they look great in the arrangement.
Love to you, Ginger
Gorgeous room! I love the green and uses of gold. Stunning combination!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, love the wall gallery! Happy Weekend! xo ~Liz
ReplyDeleteHi Suzy, Your dining room looks beautiful! Love the wall gallery...Yes, I bought the mirror and love it! I put it in the niche and that wasn't where I had thought I would put it at first. It just happened to fit perfect and it really adds interest. Now I have to find something to sit under it. Hmmmm...I am so glad you posted about it!! Kristen
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. What color/brand is the paint? I love the green walls.
ReplyDeleteHi Shannon. The paint is Sherwin Williams Lemon Verbena. I used the satin/eggshell finish.

The dining room looks wonderful! I still don't finish my breakfast area, as I need a chandy and I'm looking for just the right antique thing, prefebly, but if I fall for a new one, welcomed! I love your dining set of furniture, beautiful Chippendale. Great mirrors too.
ReplyDeleteFABBY
