Ultimate Manly Spaces

Father's Day is this Sunday!
(Really???  Is June already half over???)

In honor of their special day, I thought it would be fun to invite some awesome bloggy friends to contribute their idea of the Ultimate Manly Space.  So drag coerce bribe sweetly invite your guy to feast his eyes on some of these drool worthy spaces.  Maybe, just maybe it will spark his imagination!

Here they are (in no particular order) - enjoy!

From Sherry of No Minimalist Here

Sherry says... "I chose the wine cellar because it is a reflection of my husband's style.  The stone and stucco walls are masculine and I see this room as the perfect place for him to entertain friends."

From Alison of The Polohouse

Alison says..."This man cave comes as close to perfection to me, though I am not a man -- so maybe keep that in mind as you read on!
~
My number one reason for loving this man cave is the view! Priceless.
(So many man "caves" are in the basement of homes without any natural light or windows.)  This one has that old time tavern feel --- but it is a converted boat house.
~
Not so over-the-top.
So many of these spaces that you see now are completely overdone --- in my opinion.
They are brand new and fabulous spaces filled with state-of-the-art TVs and movie screens, pool tables, wine cellars, etc. etc. etc. and please excuse me for saying this but these budget-less explosions of what your money can buy just don't appeal to me. Sorry guys!  Don't mean to offend!
~
This one comes down to "a cold beer with a view".... no wife fussing in the background
if a beer is spilled or a peanut shell hits the deck. Just sweep it or hose it out and you are
good to go. A nice full-service bar, a small kitchen, a fireplace to sit around if it is chilly, a table  for card playing and a seating deck in the sun for enjoying the views from the water's edge.  Can't you just see the guys sitting here exaggerating their catch of the day stories on these bar stools?
~
I love a lake house and this one fits the bill for me.  I know my husband would agree, but we love to fish so maybe that explains where my heart is on this subject!"

From Darlene at Fieldstone Hill Design

Darlene says..."This Nate Berkus library has always been my favorite inspiration for a Gentleman's quarters. It is sophisticated and stately, but far from trite! With rich chocolates, black tufted leather, deep brown plaids, and a stunning cognac velvet wall treatment, this space raises the bar on Man Caves. I also love the retro aviator inspiration, which I have used in several client spaces. The raw, mechanical metal of old aircraft cries out, "gentleman!"'

From Jenna at SAS Interiors

Jenna says..."Black, often thought to be dreary and depressing, can actually be bold, regal, and masculine when used and paired with appropriate textures and patterns.  A "man cave" doesn't need to be just a sports room in the home, but instead any space that showcases a dramatic and strong aesthetic.  This engaging masculine bedroom is filled with oversized furniture pieces and layered with sophisticated graphics seen in the wall stencil and the rug.  With the large vertically placed mirror behind the lamp, this masculine bedroom is "soft" and "hard" in multiple ways."

From Yvonne at Stone Gable

Yvonne says..."Isn't it over-the-top! Well, if I am dreaming... I am dreaming BIG!
My husband is a big movie buff. I don't know if I would ever get him out of here! He especially loves old movies. We have movie date night... with lots of popcorn!"

Wowza, ladies!!!  You really blew me away with your ultimate manly spaces!
A big thank you to each one of you!  I really enjoyed seeing your ideas of an Ultimate Manly Space.

  5. So sorry I missed this Suzy. I really like Darlene's choice. Nate has such a great sense of style. Masculine enough, but could work for any gender.

    Take care.
